मॅथ्यू पेरीच्या पुस्तकाबद्दल - Never meet your hero

Never meet your hero-
Very raw book by Matthew Perry where he shows us that he IS actually a Chandler Bing in real life except Perry is way horrible with women. And, even though we have always been seeing drug/alcohol addiction invisibly on Friends, because of various appearances of Chandler, in this book we actually get to meet Matthew Perry's addiction (to alcohol/drugs, attention and women). It was shocking to see Chandler is actually a Joey in real life -probably even more obnoxious version of Joey- but I am also glad Perry has been so open and honest about it all. It's rare to see such honesty in autobiographies. I wrote in the beginning that never meet your hero- because reading this book is really like meeting Matthew Perry in person. I read the book, I'm sure listening to an audiobook narrated by himself must be another level of experience of meeting your hero.
I'm not sure if I will love Friends more for being the only support that kept Perry a little bit less insane or I’ll hate watching it because knowing our funny charming guy was in so much pain during all those seasons.
Even though at times Perry came across as a very mean person(why shade Keanu?!), I really am glad I read the book. This is probably the only book I've read which has such direct, no-nonsense imagery of what goes in the mind of an addict.
In the end there is lot of meeting god aka near death experiences, hypnotism etc etc which apparently helped Perry 'curing' his addiction. 3 objections- If I’m not wrong, I don't think you can cure addiction, you can recover from it, hopefully not relapse ever probably- but that's not a cure. Second thing is I would have loved to read actual steps/things that helped him with his addiction- this could have helped someone else who is addict and wants to be better. But there is literally nothing meaningful there. Third thing is - the book gets way messier in terms of order of events and timeline. Sometimes repetitive. You feels like kite wandering around in the sky. (maybe that's how the term high as kite came to be). It was very confusing and exhausting. I'm glad Perry wrote this book but it didn't leave a good feeling when book ended. It makes you horribly depressed and even makes you worried for Perry. (He is also kinda sporting a goatee lately.)
